Volumetric Laser Endomicroscopy in Barrett's Esophagus
نویسندگان
چکیده
Volumetric laser endomicroscopy (VLE) is an advanced endoscopic imaging technique that provides high-resolution mucosal and submucosal images of the esophagus. VLE has been used in surveillance Barrett's esophagus (BE) patients undergoing treatment BE neoplasia. Several image-interpretation scoring systems have developed tested. Advances system, such as addition color to areas image marking mucosa target biopsies, may allow for increased detection early neoplasia BE.

Targeting neoplasia using volumetric laser endomicroscopy with laser marking.
Volumetric laser endomicroscopy (VLE) is a recent advanced imaging technology that allows high resolution microstructure imaging of the esophagus and gastric cardia; it has been increasingly used in Europe and the USA [1–3]. The system has been recently upgraded to include a laser marking device that places cautery marks on the mucosa to provide targets for histology. We report a case of an inc...
متن کاملConfocal Laser Endomicroscopy for Diagnosis of Barrett’s Esophagus
Barrett's esophagus (BE) is established as a premalignant condition in the distal esophagus. Current surveillance guidelines recommend random biopsies every 1-2 cm at intervals of 3-5 years. Advanced endoscopic imaging of BE underwent several technical revolutions within the last decade including broad-field (red-flag) techniques (e.g., chromoendoscopy) and small-field techniques with confocal ...
متن کاملVolumetric laser endomicroscopy can target neoplasia not detected by conventional endoscopic measures in long segment Barrett's esophagus.
Methods and study aims: The incidence of esophageal cancer is rising despite increased surveillance efforts. Volumetric laser endomicroscopy (VLE) is a new endoscopic imaging tool that can allow for targeted biopsy of neoplasia in Barrett's esophagus. We report a series of 6 patients with long-segment Barrett's esophagus ( > 3 cm), who underwent a session of endoscopy with volumetric laser endo...
متن کاملRole of Confocal Laser Endomicroscopy in Detection of Residual Barrett's Esophagus after Radiofrequency Ablation
Endoscopic endoluminal radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is a novel and promising modality for Barrett's esophagus (BE) treatment. Actually the only surveillance method after the ablation treatment is random biopsies throughout the whole treated area. Confocal laser endomicroscopy (CLE) is a new endoscopic imaging tool that permits high-resolution microscopic examination of the gastrointestinal tra...
